James Gunn’s Superman has been one of the most talked-about superhero movies since its announcement. Directed by Gunn, it stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

The movie will reboot Superman’s story after the problems with the old DCEU and kickstart the new DC Universe.

Originally titled Superman: Legacy, the film will focus on Superman trying to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his life as Clark Kent in Smallville, while staying true to classic values in today’s world. Gunn has confirmed it won’t be another origin story.

A few days ago, a teaser trailer for the new Superman movie was released, showing many familiar characters, including the main trio. Fans also got a glimpse of Mr. Terrific, Krypto, Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, Kaiju, Papa Kent, and more.

The trailer quickly went viral. James Gunn shared that it had over 250 million views on its first day, making it the most viewed and talked-about trailer in DC and Warner Bros. history.

Gunn also pointed out that the Superman teaser beat other big movie trailers, like Joker: Folie à Deux (167 million views) and Inside Out 2 (157 million views). However, the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer still holds the record with 365 million views.

But is this really accurate? Disney’s numbers included 123.7 million TV viewers watching the Super Bowl. This means that online, in the first 24 hours, the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer got 242 million views, just behind the Superman trailer.

It’s an amazing start, but both movies are still behind big MCU hits like No Way Home and Endgame.

It’s impressive that Superman reached 250 million views with David Corenswet, who is relatively new to the role. On the other hand, Deadpool & Wolverine had the benefit of two huge Hollywood stars. However, James Gunn and the DC brand helped increase Superman’s appeal.
