Uncork’d Entertainment is set to release a new documentary titled ‘George A. Romero’s Resident Evil’ in January 2025.

Directed by Brandon Salisbury, this film offers an in-depth look at a fascinating chapter in Hollywood history that never quite unfolded on the big screen.

Available on Digital and On Demand from January 7, the documentary promises a unique look into the legendary horror video game’s planned movie adaptation by George A. Romero, the iconic filmmaker who significantly shaped the zombie genre.

According to Bloody Disgusting, the project initially took shape in 1998 when Constantin Film sought to bring the video game to life with Romero’s vision, but it never progressed beyond the early stages.

However, the project stalled and never advanced past the developmental stages. Now, Salisbury’s documentary seeks to unearth the layers behind this intriguing unrealized vision.

The film features a rich blend of archival material, key interviews, and previously unseen documents.

According to Salisbury, the documentary is crafted to honor Romero’s legacy and his profound influence on horror and filmmaking.

George Romero gave birth to modern horror, the modern zombie, and ultimately ‘Resident Evil,‘” Salisbury stated. “I am honored to bring fans the untold story of his most important unmade project, to celebrate the legacy of the man who inspired me to pursue filmmaking as a career.”

Keith Leopard, President of Uncork’d Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm about delivering this story to audiences, highlighting the documentary’s exploration of what might have been and its homage to Romero’s visionary narrative style.

The release is poised to provide audiences with a new understanding of Romero’s unmade project and its potential impact on Hollywood and horror enthusiasts alike.
