Just when we thought that the It Ends With Us saga was over, we are bombarded with a new report that will seemingly escalate things even further. The romance movie was a solid hit with the audiences, but what marked the movie was the controversy surrounding the relations of the movie’s main stars.
As we have reported, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni reportedly had a horrible working relationship on the set, which culminated in Baldoni missing the movie’s promotional tour and accusing Lively of being horrible, and Lively accusing him of sexual harassment and launching a smear campaign against her.
Their feud filled the headlines for a while, but it has been some time since we’ve had anything to report about this topic. Yet, as it turns out, it seems that it’s still alive and that it is going to escalate, as per a report by TMZ. We have to state, though, that while we are reporting on the story, you should take it with a grain of salt, as TMZ is not the most reliable of sources.
According to the linked article, Blake Lively has taken legal action against her former co-star and director, Justin Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and attempting to ruin her reputation.
The lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, details the claims of a hostile work environment while filming It Ends With Us. Lively says there was an all-staff meeting to address the situation, with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, reportedly attending.
In the lawsuit, Lively outlines a series of demands related to Baldoni’s behavior on set. She says that Baldoni made her uncomfortable by showing explicit content, discussing his alleged past issues with pornography, and mentioning personal topics like his sexual conquests, crew members’ genitalia, and her late father.
One of her key demands was that no more sex scenes or uncomfortable content be added outside of what she had approved in the script. Lively claims the studio agreed to her demands, but despite this, the film didn’t perform well at the box office. She attributes part of the failure to a clash over how the movie should be marketed.
While she wanted the story to focus on her character’s resilience, Baldoni reportedly wanted to emphasize themes of domestic violence. Lively also accuses Baldoni and his team of a campaign to destroy her reputation after the film’s release.
The lawsuit includes a set of texts from Baldoni’s publicist, who allegedly told the studio’s publicist that Baldoni wanted Lively “buried,” though the language about destroying her was not directly written. Lively claims this campaign severely impacted her business and caused emotional distress to her family.
In response, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, criticized the lawsuit, calling it an effort to repair Lively’s public image. He labeled the accusations as “false” and “outrageous,” saying they were intentionally designed to hurt Baldoni’s reputation.
Freedman also painted Lively as difficult to work with on set, accusing her of threatening not to show up or promote the film, which he believes led to the movie’s poor performance.
The battle has been going on for months, with both sides accusing the other of misconduct. One of the more controversial points in the suit involves Baldoni allegedly asking his trainer about Lively’s weight. Lively felt this was an act of fat-shaming, but Baldoni explained that he was concerned about his bad back and was merely trying to protect it.
Both Lively and Baldoni have painted each other in a negative light, with Lively accusing him of harassment and an effort to tarnish her image, while Baldoni’s team argues she is simply trying to salvage her reputation after the film’s failure. The case continues to unfold as both sides fight back against the accusations.
