Reports are swirling around that Marvel Studios has not shelved plans for a Spider-Man and Daredevil crossover.
Originally set for ‘Spider-Man 4,’ the idea was to have Spider-Man team up with Daredevil to take on the notorious Kingpin, now the Mayor of New York City.
This team-up was supposed to be a more grounded, street-level narrative, focusing on their fight against crime in the city.
Unfortunately, the Hollywood strikes last year threw a wrench into those plans. Now, ‘Spider-Man 4′ is poised to be a part of a larger narrative involving the Multiverse, sitting between two major Avengers titles—’Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’
This shift suggests a move away from the original street-level concept to a more expansive, high-stakes storyline.
However, it seems Marvel might revisit the street-level concept in ‘Spider-Man 5.’ According to Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus, the dynamics between Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Kingpin are set to evolve.
Kingpin, as the city mayor, targets vigilantes, pushing his agenda to boost his criminal enterprises discreetly.
This storyline will not only feature in the upcoming ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season two on Disney+ but will also extend beyond the ‘Secret Wars.’
Tom Holland, the actor behind Spider-Man, expressed his excitement about the direction of the franchise.
In a recent podcast, he shared his enthusiasm about the script, which he read with co-star Zendaya.
Holland highlighted the script’s potential and his anticipation to bring it to life, noting the need to iron out some details before proceeding.
Marvel has confirmed that ‘Spider-Man 4’ will hit theaters on July 26, 2026, with Destin Daniel Cretton directing from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
With the inclusion of Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and possibly other Spider-Men like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, the film promises to be a multi-dimensional saga that could redefine Spider-Man’s role in the MCU.
