Marvel and Sony Want To Recapture ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Magic with Epic ‘Spider-Man 4’ Team-Up

‘Spider-Man 4’ was confirmed to be in development last year, but there are still not many details. What we do know is that Tom Holland and Zendaya will return to their roles, and Destin Daniel Cretton will direct.

Beyond that, not much is known. However, even before ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ came out, there were rumors that Venom and Knull would eventually join the MCU.

After the release of ‘Venom 3’, and with the movie’s ending in mind, it’s clear that Venom joining the MCU is likely. Tom Hardy confirmed he’s done with the Venom trilogy but said he’d be willing to return to the MCU, especially if it means facing Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland.

In his recent Discord AMA, Alex Perez shared some details about Knull’s possible appearance in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man 4’ and its multiversal storyline, especially now that the Sony Universe is struggling after the poor reception and box office results of ‘Kraven the Hunter.’

Perez mentioned that the idea of the Sony Universe ending is exaggerated. He believes Sony will never give up the Spider-Man rights unless the company is bought out or offered a huge amount of money. He still thinks Knull will appear in ‘Spider-Man 4,’ as there are several clues pointing to his involvement.

Perez also shared that many plot details for ‘Spider-Man 4’ have come to light recently, with potential appearances from characters like Doom, Mephisto, Ghost Rider, Knull, Venom, and Daredevil.

He says that while his sources are trustworthy, many people won’t believe it until the studio confirms it. Perez also explains that both Marvel and Sony want ‘Spider-Man 4’ to be a team-up movie, similar to how ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ worked, aiming to create the same dynamic but with ‘Spider-Man’ and Sony instead of Deadpool and Fox.

But I’ll tell you this about Knull. I still believe we’re going to get to see him in Spider-Man 4. Too many pieces are falling into place at the same time. While we’re on the subject matter of “the endgame for Spider-Man 4”, A LOT has clearly transpired over the last few days or weeks when it comes to what the plot of this film is. Doom, Mephisto, Ghost Rider, Knull, Venom, Daredevil, etc. We need to focus on the primary fact that while I can trust my sources and trust my reporting, many of those of you reading won’t believe it until either the studio or a trade confirms it.

It could be all of those or it could be none. What I can tell you is what I’ve been told from my sources. And what I have been told is that both Marvel AND Sony want this film in particular to be a team up movie in the way that Marvel produced Deadpool and Wolverine. And that the end goal here is to recapture that same magic and team up dynamic but switch out Deadpool and Fox for Spider-Man and Sony.

Perez suggested that, with the multiverse setting in ‘Spider-Man 4’, Venom (played by Tom Hardy) is the most likely character to team up with Spider-Man, rather than characters like Daredevil.

He also hints that the pairing of Venom and Spider-Man could lead to Knull being the main villain. Perez mentioned that two trusted sources revealed Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will have a bigger role in the film compared to their appearance in ‘No Way Home.’

As for Mephisto and Ghost Rider, he says this is new information to him, though Mephisto’s link to Spider-Man isn’t surprising, especially after the “One More Day” comic storyline.

This could be an interesting idea, similar to what the MCU did with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ as long as Marvel Studios has most of the creative control.
