Sebastian Stan became famous for playing Bucky Barnes in the MCU. His role started small but grew into an important and beloved character, especially in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Stan will return as Bucky in the upcoming Thunderbolts, but he’s always looking for ways to expand his role. At Comic-Con Liverpool 2024, he answered many interesting questions from fans about Bucky’s character.

One question that stood out was whether he thought Bucky would make a good father.

Yeah, I think so, I think he would make a good dad. I mean, would you guys, wanna see him as dad?

The crowd cheered loudly, clearly excited about the idea of expanding Bucky’s story. The actor then joked about what his son or daughter might dress up as for Halloween.

Captain America, exactly!” he said, before adding, “Iron Man.”

Making Bucky a dad in the MCU would be a big change for his character. With no longer working alongside Steve or Sam, Bucky is now joining a new team in the MCU, the one that will be introduced in Thunderbolts.

His time in the franchise may be winding down, but if they wanted one more storyline, becoming a father could make sense. This doesn’t necessarily mean Bucky having his own child—it could also mean him becoming a father figure to a younger hero.

With his improved mental state, Bucky might be ready to mentor someone. Since the MCU has explored many sides of his character, a parenthood storyline could bring a fresh, unique twist. Especially with the rise of the Young Avengers, which has been teased over the past year.
