“Creature Commandos” is releasing in just a few days, but the reviews came out yesterday, and the show has earned a perfect 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.
This makes it the best-reviewed DC Comics adaptation ever, beating popular shows like “The Penguin” and “The Dark Knight.” It also has the highest starting score of any previous DCEU project.
As more reviews come in, the show still holds a strong 94% critics score based on 17 reviews, with most of them being positive.
The DCU starts off with a bang! Creature Commandos is funny, violent & gory, while still being serious, with emotions at its core. We get to learn more of each member bit by bit & the music is great. Weird, splashy & fun. [Full review in Spanish]
Fico Cangiano – CineXpress
Creature Commandos marks the official start of the DCU, and with a team of monstrous antiheroes leading the charge, it’s off to a good start.
Ben Gibbons – Screen Rant
Creature Commandos channels the quintessential heart and dark humor that have become calling cards of James Gunn’s found-family stories, and delivers the best possible start to the budding DCU.
Charlie Ridgely – ComicBook.com
Creature Commandos is a colorful and action-packed introduction to the new DCU franchise, but it also already feels like creator James Gunn is repeating old lazy habits.
Ernesto Valenzuela – Discussing Film
Gunn knows how to keep this material entertainingly twisted while still treating his silly characters with emotional sincerity. The only major downside is that the show is doing almost nothing new.
Reuben Baron – Looper.com
Fiction Horizon gave “Creature Commandos” a solid 6 out of 10, mentioning that while the introduction to the DCU is promising, the show feels too similar to previous Gunn projects. This makes it lack the freshness and originality expected from the beginning of a new cinematic universe.
