Ever since Matt Reeves’ The Batman became a major hit, Robert Pattinson has been associated with the role of Gotham’s Dark Knight, and the actor, who had a popularity peak while playing in the Twilight franchise, reached new heights with this interpretation, which came after a series of major and complex roles.
But while a recent New York Times interview with the actor discusses whether Pattinson is actually the last movie star of our time, we had actually decided to focus on a very funny(y) moment that happened in the past, when Pattinson was traveling with his fiancee, Suki Waterhouse.
There, he was actually recognized, so it’s not an incident like that, but he was recognized for something completely different, and that situation – while not wrong since it was Pattinson in the role – is now very, very funny considering everything we know about Pattinson and the evolution of his praiseworthy career.
Robert Pattinson’s career has been on an upward spiral in recent years because of several amazing roles, including The Lighthouse and The Batman. The actor has been praised for his performances and despite the initial scepsis, he was accepted as the new Dark Knight and no one would want to see him replaced anymore, which is why we are looking forward to Reeves’ sequels.
But, as you probably know, Pattinson first came into the spotlight for playing Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise, a role he now remembers with some disdain, to be honest.
Pattinson is now aware of the feebleness of the role and often talks about it with criticism, but he acknowledges that it helped launch his career and that it helped him financially, although it took years for him to shake off the role and prove that he is able to play other complex roles as well.
Pattinson has definitely proven his skill and has moved on from the role of Edward, but it seems that the role still hasn’t moved on from him, if a recent funny encounter reveals. Namely, as the above-cited New York Times interview says, for New Year’s last year, Pattinson and Waterhouse took a trip to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and there, he had a funny encounter with the passport control officer, who asked him: “Hey, you’re the guy from ‘Twilight.’ Why’d you stop acting?”
The actor was a bit shocked and he said to the reporter: “I was like …, ‘I’m Batman? She just laughed.” As you can see, this is a very funny story that shows just how long a role can linger, but we are certain that Pattinson will soon be remembered for the role of Batman, rather than Edward.
