Everyone is aware by now that The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, was a huge hit. Considering the fact that the recent DC revamps brought about a number of changes, some fans feared that the initial trilogy plans were abandoned. But it looks like Reeves will not be denied the chance to create his world. Although, it might be a while before we see it happen.
We know that everyone’s signed up for a trilogy and that Reeves is currently finishing the work on the script for the second movie, which is scheduled to start shooting next year. It was, as you remember, supposed to be released next year, but it was ultimately postponed.
The movie is now scheduled for a 2026 release, and while everyone knows that Reeves is a meticulous director who definitely does deserve the time, the fans are wondering – how long will the whole endeavor take? Well, dear fans, you’re not the only one!
Namely, in a recent New York Times interview, actor Robert Pattinson, who plays Batman in Reeves’ universe, discussed his life, career, and the impact of the role of Batman on the evolution and development of his career, which is most certainly an interesting read. The interview is long, but it is interesting, so we advise you to read the whole thing.
If you don’t have the time, we have – of course – done the reading for you and we have found a very interesting comment by Pattinson that is related to the filming timeline of Reeves’ Batman trilogy, a fact that is worrying a lot of fans. As said, filming for the second movie is scheduled to begin next year, and we’re still two years away from the premiere.
We know that the third movie is not going to be filmed back-to-back, so it will be a while after 2026 before we actually see the final movie from the trilogy; in fact, it could be possible that we won’t see it before late 2028 or even 2029, which is 4-5 years away from now.
This is a fact that is definitely worrisome for fans of the franchise, and Pattinson has now commented on the whole filming timeline: “I could genuinely be retiring by the end of them.” This should, of course, be taken with a smile, as Pattinson was obviously joking, but the fact remains that the actor is also aware that the filming process will be a long one, and we don’t really have any proper updates for you in this aspect, but as soon as we have any dates, we will reveal them here, so be sure to keep following us!
