Back in the day, the DCEU was established as a reaction to the MCU, but it failed to deliver. There were some good individual outings, but Zack Snyder never managed to connect everything into a proper story, and combined with all the numerous bad decisions, the DCEU failed. As expected. Then came James Gunn and Peter Safran.
The two of them are currently working on crafting the DCU, which is supposed to work as a proper competition for the MCU in the upcoming years. While we have yet to see how all of what will work for the two of them, it is certain that a lot of projects are on the way.
This is why fans are very much excited and curious about the future of these projects and in this report, we are actually going to reveal some interesting, although not necessarily great updates about some of the upcoming projects, so get ready!
Speaking to Josh Horowitz recently, James Gunn shared some interesting information about some of his upcoming DCU projects, as Horowitz asked him several important questions about the DCU, which is currently the focus of the filmmaker’s career. Among the information shared was this:

And if you don’t believe us, here is what Gunn said:
As you can see, the filmmaker has commented on the future of three major projects – two movies and a series. Before we reveal individual details, we’d just like to stress how Gunn reiterated his desire to craft amazing stories.
Sure, a lot of projects will come his way, some will have better scripts, some not that good ones, but Gunn said he wanted to keep the soul of his projects and that he wanted to feel them.
That is why, he explains, no project will get a green light before the screenplay or teleplay is good enough, regardless of the idea, which might result in some delays, of course, but it should also result in brilliant projects that will be able to captivate the hearts of the fans. Having said this, let us discuss the projects in question.
Booster Gold is by far the most important one from this discussion, as Horowitz wanted to know about this show specifically. While we still don’t know whether Kumail Nanjiani is going to be playing the titular hero of the series, we know that the series is being worked on.
The script is still being written and, as Gunn said, they’re still not quite there yet. Something is happening, but it seems that they still have to provide him with a great script that will be greenlit officially.
The same goes for the upcoming Waller series, which will further explore Viola Davis’ iconic character; it is being worked on, but the script is not finished, so Gunn is waiting before greenlighting the project.
In case you were wondering, the status of The Brave and the Bold, which is probably the most tricky one among the three, is the same as the other two, so… just keep following us for more updates!
