X-Men Cyclops Actor Tye Sheridan Shares “I’m Not Real Sure” Update About His MCU Return

Tye Sheridan played Scott Summers/Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool 2, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

With the X-Men joining the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars, fans are still waiting to find out if the old X-Men actors will return or if new ones will take over the roles.

So far, we’ve seen Patrick Stewart reprise his role as Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (though that was a different version of Charles, not the one from the Fox X-Men movies).

We’ve also seen Beast appear in The Marvels mid-credits scene, played by Kelsey Grammer, who previously played Hank in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Most recently, many X-Men characters have shown up in Deadpool & Wolverine. Hugh Jackman returned as Logan, Brianna Hildebrand reprised her role as Negasonic Teenage Warhead from Deadpool and Deadpool 2, and we also saw Colossus, Shatterstar, X-23, and Gambit.

One character who hasn’t appeared yet is Scott Summers. He has previously been played by James Marsden (X-Men, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand), Tim Pocock (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), and Tye Sheridan (X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool 2, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix).

Fans online have been actively debating whether Tye or Marsden should return as Cyclops, and Tye recently spoke about his possible return. While his answer wasn’t too hopeful, he didn’t completely rule out coming back:

I don’t know. I don’t think there’s a question if there’s more stories to tell. I think there’s probably always more stories to tell. The question is whether audiences have a desire for those stories and whether we feel like those types of films have been oversaturated or they’re not, or if there’s a new way to make those films. But yeah, I’m not real sure.

This suggests that Marvel Studios hasn’t reached out to Tye yet, or he’s unable to confirm anything publicly. For fans hoping to see him as Cyclops again, it’s good news that he hasn’t closed the door on the possibility.

If Marvel decides to bring him back, it’s likely they’ll make it worth his while, and we could see Tye playing Cyclops in the MCU.
