The upcoming 82nd Golden Globe Awards will be held on January 5, 2025. With the ceremony less than a month away, the nominations are slowly being revealed, and we are happy to report that one of the best miniseries we’ve seen this year has nabbed a major nomination!

Of course, we are talking about Max’ The Penguin, a series that captivated the hearts of fans and critics alike and is now considered to be one of the best series of the years and one of the best series in its genre, which is why this piece of news is so great.

The Penguin has been nominated in the Best Limited or Anthology Series or Television Film category, which more or less confirms its status as a miniseries. While The Penguin is definitely one of the hottest contenders, the competition—as you will see—is quite strong.

Before we continue with the analysis, here is the full list of nominees:

As you can see, this year will definitely be a year of tough contenders, as basically all shows on the list have a big chance of winning. Baby Reindeer was a hit series for Netflix and a very controversial outing that caused a lot of talk not just because it depicted the worst aspects of the entertainment industry but also because it influenced a lot of people.

Then we have the popular Monsters series, which, despite being yet another in a series of adaptations of the Menendez case, managed to gain a lot of attention and is likewise a strong contender. Ripley was another major series for Netflix, and it showed just how great the story of Thomas Ripley is and how majestic of an actor Andrew Scott is. The series received praise from everyone and is a very strong contender.

Finally, we have True Detective: Night Country, a series that the critics loved, but which divided the fans even more than the controversial second season of the popular anthology series. Despite this, we shouldn’t rule it out just yet.

Objectively, The Penguin and Ripley seem like the strongest candidates on this list, but this doesn’t have to mean anything in this category.

In addition, we can also confirm that the series nabbed yet another nomination this year, as Cristin Milioti has been nominated for Best Performance in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role of Sofia Falcone, which amazed basically everyone.

She will also face tough competition as she is nominated alongside Cate Blanchett (Disclaimer), Jodie Foster (True Detective: Night Country), Sofía Vergara (Griselda), Naomi Watts (Feud: Capote vs. The Swans), and Kate Winslet (The Regime).

We’d also like to congratulate Colin Farrell for a nomination in the same category for his performance of Oswald Cobb, a.k.a. The Penguin. He is nominated alongside Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer), Kevin Kline (Disclaimer), Cooper Koch (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story), Ewan McGregor (A Gentleman in Moscow), and Andrew Scott (Ripley)

We are definitely going to have an interesting ceremony in early January, so be sure to keep following us for all the updates. We will bring them all to you, like always!
