The upcoming 82nd Golden Globe Awards will be held on January 5, 2025. With the ceremony less than a month away, the nominations are slowly being revealed, and we are happy to report that the animated feature category is going to be as exciting as we had anticipated this year!

The animated feature category is always interesting. It’s usually the only category where animated films can compete. While some animated films may appear in other categories, they are mostly limited to just this one. Unlike live-action films, which can compete in many categories, animated films have fewer options.

This is why the competition is always tough every year and why this year’s nominees are also so great. Of course, the main duel is going to be between the two biggest animated hits of the year – Inside Out 2 and The Wild Robot, and we are going to discuss these nominations a bit in this report.

Before we start, here is the full list of nominated films for this year:

Inside Out 2 reigns supreme this year as the biggest box office hit of 2025, surpassing every other movie with an incredible $1.699 billion. The movie has also received praise from the critics, which makes it a very strong contender this year, as was expected.

But if you thought that Inside Out 2 would easily stroll through the awards season this year, you were wrong. Namely, The Wild Robot managed to impress everyone as well, and while it did not achieve the same box office result, it is certainly one of the biggest hits and for many the biggest contender for the animated film of the year.

But the tough competition doesn’t stop there. Flow is also nominated, a movie that captured the hearts of fans and critics alike, which is why many think that it could be a dark horse this year, seeing how it has both a captivating story and a brilliant production behind the story as a whole.

We also have the dark indie story Memoir of a Snail, whose nomination is a very positive surprise, and the return of Wallace and Gromit, a movie that was a nostalgia fest as well as a brilliant standalone work that we absolutely loved.

Moana 2 is also nominated, but it remains to be seen how this movie will do since it has been released only recently. It will be an exciting ceremony for sure, so be sure to keep following us!
