The next Star Wars movie is The Mandalorian & Grogu. Directed by Jon Favreau and co-written with Dave Filoni, it continues the story from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian with Pedro Pascal as the lead.
Season 4 of The Mandalorian was delayed because of the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes, so Lucasfilm focused on this movie instead. It was announced in January 2024, and filming started in California in August 2024.
The cast features Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, also called The Mandalorian, a bounty hunter, and Grogu, a young creature like Yoda and Din’s companion. Sigourney Weaver will appear in a mystery role, and Jeremy Allen White from The Bear will voice Rotta the Hutt, Jabba the Hutt’s son.
Rotta, nicknamed “Stinky” by Ahsoka Tano, was kidnapped during the Clone Wars as part of a plan by Count Dooku and his uncle Ziro to frame the Jedi and harm Republic-Hutt relations.
Anakin and Ahsoka rescued Rotta from the planet Teth. Though he became sick, Ahsoka helped him recover. After escaping Count Dooku’s attempts to kill him, Rotta was safely returned to Jabba. He was later seen at Jabba’s Palace during a visit from Baron Papanoida.
The last time we saw Rotta was in The Clone Wars, so by now, he would be all grown up.
Jeremy Allen White, known for his role in the critically acclaimed series The Bear, plays a talented but troubled chef, earning him awards and widespread recognition. Outside TV, he has showcased his acting range in indie films like The Rental and Afterschool.
