With the upcoming release of ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3′ this December 20th, fans of the franchise have something new to look forward to.
The film not only brings back some beloved characters but also introduces a new face with Keanu Reeves stepping into the role of Shadow.
The excitement doesn’t stop there, as both Reeves and Idris Elba, the voice behind Knuckles, have expressed their interest in further exploring their characters.
In a recent chat with ComicBook, Elba, who first lent his voice to Knuckles in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’, shared his enthusiasm about the potential for more adventures with Knuckles, even joking about a possible team-up title.
“Shadow Knuckles sounds like a band,” he teased. Reeves, on the other hand, proposed “Knuckles and Shadow” as a straightforward option for their collaboration.
Despite the initial hesitance about the Sonic characters’ debut on the big screen, their cinematic journey has been a success story.
The first ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ movie faced early criticism for its character design, prompting a redesign that was well-received by audiences and set the stage for the franchise’s growth.
This series expansion included the introduction of Knuckles, whose own series set viewership records for Paramount+.
While a second season of the Knuckles series has not been officially announced, Elba’s keen interest suggests more could be on the way.
As for the immediate future, fans will see Knuckles and Shadow join forces in ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’.
The movie promises an epic showdown with Shadow posing a new threat to Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails. With their powers tested like never before, the team must form an unlikely alliance to save the planet.
Stay tuned, as more updates on the Sonic franchise are expected as we approach the film’s premiere.
