2025 is shaping up to be a huge year for superhero movies. The DC Universe is “officially” starting with the release of Superman on July 11, 2025. The MCU will also have three big movies: Captain America: Brave New World, Fantastic Four: First Steps, and Thunderbolts, after a quieter 2024 with just Deadpool & Wolverine.

Based on online buzz, Superman and Fantastic Four: First Steps were expected to be the most anticipated movies. However, a new survey from Fandango reveals a surprising result. According to 9,000 Fandango users, the most anticipated movie of 2025 is actually Captain America: Brave New World. Fantastic Four is in fifth place, while Superman lands in ninth.

Many fans are confused by this list, as Captain America: Brave New World hasn’t generated much excitement yet, and it’s only about three months away from release. The movie has faced controversy, with failed test screenings leading to many changes and reshoots, reportedly adding $100 million to its already high budget.

There’s also the controversy surrounding Sabra, a Jewish superhero, as some fans have threatened to boycott the movie due to her comic book origins, where she is portrayed as a Mossad agent.

A few months ago, we thought the 2025 box office battle would be between Fantastic Four and Superman, but it seems we were wrong. Thunderbolts didn’t even make the list.
