More than a month ago, the highly awaited third ‘Venom’ installment was released. Faithful to the title of the movie, the story concludes in a dramatic and emotional fashion. Venom sacrificed himself to destroy the Codex and save the universe, and Eddie, being considered the hero after events that happened at Area 51, earned himself an expungement and can now finally live his life as he pleases.
Still, the final scenes of the movie showcased just how much Eddie missed Venom. Their movie relationship was definitely a complicated one, even though it was highly amusing. Venom, an alien symbiote, lived inside Eddie, giving him superhuman powers but also causing constant conflict.
They often argued like an odd couple, with Venom’s impulsive nature clashing with Eddie’s attempts to live a normal life. Despite their differences, they formed a strong bond and work together to fight enemies, ultimately becoming a team that relies on each other.
WatchMojo asked Tom Hardy to address his relationship with Venom and whether it’s romantic in any way. Yes, it’s a ridiculous question, but Hardy still managed to deliver a highly interesting answer.
Tom Hardy described the relationship between Eddie and Venom as unique and complex, blending elements of a buddy comedy, bromance, and romance. He highlighted their deep intimacy, as they coexist physically and emotionally, creating a bond unlike any other.
Ultimately, he emphasized that their connection is defined by their forced yet symbiotic coexistence.
Yeah. I mean, it’s a buddy comedy. It just happens to be two people that love each other. It’s a bromance. It’s got its own umbrella. They’re so intimate because they actually are, you know, inside each other all the time.
That’s got so many connotations for any grown-up, you know, they’re going to go “Oh you can extrapolate so much from that situation.” Of course. So, the intimate nature of the two, I don’t think it can just be a buddy movie, a bromance, a romance, or anything. It’s just unique, it’s unique to the fact that these people are stuck with each other, these creatures, they live as one, but they are two.
