TMNT: James Wan Rumored to Direct R-Rated Live-Action Movie Based on ‘The Last Ronin’

Following the success of the animated film ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,’ Paramount Pictures is bringing the iconic franchise to life with a new live-action project. However, this adaptation is set to take a darker, more mature approach, exploring a world of an R-rated storyline.
The studio is reportedly developing ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin,’ a live-action film based on the popular IDW comic series. Tyler Burton Smith, known for his work on the upcoming R-rated action film ‘Boy Kills World’ and the 2019 ‘Child’s Play’ reboot, will write the script for this intense story.
Walter Hamada, former head of DC Films, is producing the movie through his 18hz production company. With his experience in the horror genre, having worked on hits like ‘The Conjuring’ and ‘It.’
Now according to popular industry insider MyTimeToShineHello, James Wan is set to direct the movie.
James Wan is known for his work in horror, creating popular films like ‘The Conjuring,’ ‘Saw,’ and ‘Insidious.’ Which means he is a perfect choice to helm this film.
‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin’ is set in a dark future where only one of the turtles is still alive. The last surviving turtle seeks revenge for the deaths of his brothers and their mentor, Master Splinter, by going after Shredder’s grandson and the remaining members of the Foot Clan. The story is filled with action, emotional struggles, and the turtle’s quest for justice and closure. Throughout the story, the readers keep guessing which Turther is the lone survivor.
IDW, the publisher of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics,’ recently released a sequel series called ‘TMNT: The Last Ronin II — Re-Evolution.’ The first issue has gained a lot of attention and is considered one of the biggest comics of the year.
