Hallmark is known for their holiday programming, and whether you like their movies or not, they are a synonym for the holiday television season for many people around the world, so it is no surprise that a lot of people are interested in their holiday programming, in which Hallmark invests a lot of money.

A lot of actors and actresses have appeared in these movies, some of which went on to become proper holiday stars for the production company. These movies attract a lot of viewers, and while these actors and actresses don’t become major superstars, they have a following and get a lot of fans along the way.

One of them is Jonathan Bennett, whom non-Hallmark fans might know from Veronica Mars, who went on to become a major holiday star for the channel. But, in a recent interview, the actor revealed that while he is a holiday movie star, he doesn’t actually decorate for Christmas in real life!

Jonathan Bennett is known as one of Hallmark Channel’s Christmas stars, but at home, he’s not exactly in the holiday spirit, as he revealed to US Weekly. In fact, he openly admitted that he doesn’t decorate for Christmas, even though his career is all about the festive season.

Bennett, who is 43, shared this confession while promoting Finding Mr. Christmas on Hallmark+. He explained that after months of filming Christmas movies and shows, he’s burned out by the time the holiday actually arrives.

This year, he’s filming several Christmas projects, including Finding Mr. Christmas, Christmas on Cherry Lane, a sequel to another Christmas movie, and even one for next year. With so much holiday work, Bennett joked that he feels like he’s been “covered in tinsel for six months out of the year.”

Despite his lack of enthusiasm for Christmas decorations, Bennett found a fun solution. He joked about having the contestants from Finding Mr. Christmas help decorate his home. The actor even said he would turn it into a competition where the contestants would have 30 minutes to decorate his house.

Bennett is no stranger to Hallmark’s Christmas world. He first appeared in a Hallmark Christmas movie in 2010, but his big break came in 2018 when he starred in Christmas Made to Order. Since then, he’s become a go-to lead for the network’s holiday films.

In 2020, Bennett made history with The Christmas House, Hallmark’s first movie featuring a gay couple, which was followed by a sequel. The following year, he starred in The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls, continuing his successful run with Hallmark.

Bennett also starred in The Holiday Sitter in 2022, a film that focused on a same-sex couple story. In this movie, Bennett’s character, Sam, babysits his niece and nephew with help from a charming neighbor. He went on to film Christmas on Cherry Lane in 2023, which received a sequel this season, Season’s Greetings From Cherry Lane, on Hallmark+.

In addition to his acting roles, Bennett is the creator of Finding Mr. Christmas, a reality competition show on Hallmark+ that we recently reported on. The show challenges 10 contestants to complete holiday-themed tasks to prove they have what it takes to become the next Hallmark star.

The winner of the competition will star in the 2024 Christmas movie Happy Howlidays, alongside Jessica Lowndes. Bennett came up with the idea for the show after hearing from friends who were interested in becoming Hallmark stars. As a big fan of reality TV, he thought it would be fun to turn the process of becoming a Hallmark-leading man into a competition.

Bennett believes the popularity of Hallmark movies has become a big part of pop culture, and that viewers love the stars associated with the network. He said, ‘People have fallen in love with the Hallmark signature stars. They love their Hallmark hunks.’
