The Ant-Man franchise may be smaller compared to other MCU films, but it has made a big impact by introducing new technology, characters, and storylines that still affect the larger MCU, especially with the multiverse and quantum realm now in focus.
The latest film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, was meant to kick off Phase 5 of the MCU and introduce Kang the Conqueror, the main villain for the Multiversal Saga.
Unfortunately, the movie didn’t do well, receiving mixed reviews and failing at the box office, earning only $476.1 million when it needed $600 million to break even.
After the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Jonathan Majors, who played Kang the Conqueror, was arrested and later sentenced on assault charges. This led to the end of Kang’s storyline in the MCU. After this, and the poor performance of The Marvels, Marvel reportedly canceled the planned Ant-Man 4, leaving the future of the characters uncertain.
However, Alex Perez recently discussed the Ant-Man franchise in a Discord AMA. He shared that Hope Van Dyne’s character is currently only mentioned in Daredevil: Born Again and is running the Pym Van Dyne Foundation, with no big plans for her right now.
He also said the same goes for Hank and Janet, whose storylines were never fully developed. Regarding Ant-Man 4, Alex explained that the film never had much planned, so it wasn’t really canceled—it just never got properly greenlit.
There are references to her character, particularly in Daredevil: Born Again, which is what comes to mind for me atm. But outside of that, I think she’s currently just running the Pym Van Dyne Foundation. Other than that, nothing’s really happening with her character.
The same could be said for Hank and Janet, which is a shame, given the way they were planning on delivering the final curtain call for those two. HOWEVER, I know that the use (and abuse) of the Pym Particle will be a topic that will be explored in future films.
hose films barely had any ideas in development, so it’s not really a cancellation if nothing was ever properly greenlit to begin with.

It makes sense to keep the technology but move away from the characters, especially since Evangeline Lilly announced her retirement shortly after Quantumania came out.
