Max is set to remove four popular DC animated shows by the end of 2024, leaving fans disappointed. Over the years, Max has been the go-to streaming platform for DC fans, but Warner Bros. has been pulling more content lately, and it seems these shows are next.
According to a Reddit post, Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, Static Shock, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series will be leaving Max on December 31. Warner Bros. Discovery hasn’t officially confirmed this yet, but they don’t usually announce removals.
Static Shock, which aired in 2000 on KidsWB, followed Virgil Hawkins, a teen with electromagnetic powers. The show became a fan favorite for its humor, action, and focus on social issues. There were rumors of a live-action Static Shock movie earlier this year, but there hasn’t been any news since. It’s probably not moving forward.
Another big loss is Teen Titans, the 2003 series that brought Robin, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, and Cyborg together. Its spinoff, Teen Titans Go!, which has over 400 episodes and even a movie, is also leaving.
Green Lantern: The Animated Series, a short-lived but beloved show about Hal Jordan and Kilowog, is also on the list. Even though it only lasted one season, fans still enjoy seeing Hal’s adventures.
The reason for these removals isn’t clear, but it might be part of Max’s efforts to reshape its streaming library. With James Gunn’s new DC Universe taking shape, the focus seems to be on upcoming projects like Creature Commandos and other new films. Interestingly, a Clayface movie is reportedly in the works, even before another Batman, Flash, or Wonder Woman film.
It’s unclear if these shows will return to Max or move to another platform, so fans should rewatch them while they can. You have two weeks left before they disappear.
