Silo is a very popular American dystopian series that premiered on May 5, 2023, on Apple TV+. It is based on the eponymous sci-fi series written by Hugh Howey. Currently, the series has two seasons, with the second one still airing. The first season aired from May 5, 2023, to June 30, 2023, while the second season premiered on November 15, 2024, and will air until January 17, 2025.

The second season is currently a hit with viewers, and fans have been wondering about the future of the show. There had been some recent rumors that the third season was already being worked on, but until today, we haven’t known the fate of the series.

In light of that fact, we can confirm that Silo has been renewed for both Season 3 and Season 4, which means that the series will be back for two more seasons, but it has – sadly – also been confirmed that the fourth season will also be the series’ final season.

As we have said, Silo is set to wrap up after four seasons on Apple TV+, Variety reports. The post-apocalyptic series, which is currently airing Season 2, has already been renewed for Seasons 3 and 4, with the fourth season being the final one. The renewal comes while Season 2 is still in progress. Episode 6 will air on December 20, and the season finale is scheduled for January 17.

Showrunner Graham Yost expressed excitement about the opportunity to bring Hugh Howey’s Wool trilogy to the screen in its entirety:

It has been a richly rewarding experience to adapt Hugh’s epic novels with our partners at Apple and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this complete story to the screen over the course of four seasons. With the final two chapters of ‘Silo’, we can’t wait to give fans of the show an incredibly satisfying conclusion to the many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos.

Silo is based on the first book in Howey’s trilogy, Wool. It takes place in a world where the last 10,000 people live in a massive silo underground. The toxic world outside has forced them into hiding, and no one knows how the silo came to be or why it exists.

Anyone who tries to uncover the truth about the silo meets a deadly fate. Rebecca Ferguson plays Juliette, an engineer who is looking for answers about the murder of someone close to her.

As she digs deeper, she uncovers a much bigger mystery that puts everything at risk. The show has been well-received since its debut, and Ferguson is proud to bring Juliette to life:

I’ve loved every minute of bringing Juliette to the screen and am immensely proud of what we’ve all created with ‘Silo’ since the first episode. I have always felt passionately about telling the entire story contained within Hugh Howey’s books, so I couldn’t be happier that audiences around the world have enthusiastically embraced the show.

Alongside our partners at Apple, Graham, and the entire cast and crew, I cannot wait to dive into these final two thought-provoking seasons that will beautifully conclude this dystopian tale.

The show has an impressive cast that includes Tim Robbins, Common, Steve Zahn, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, Alexandria Riley, Shane McRae, Remmie Milner, and Iain Glen. All of them bring a unique energy to the show, helping to make Silo one of Apple TV+’s standout dramas.

Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, spoke about how addictive and moving the show has been:

The addictive, inventive and moving ‘Silo’ has had us hooked since day one and we’ve loved watching global audiences become equally enamored with the world that Graham Yost has created. As we look to seasons three and four of this ambitious, character-driven sci-fi series — which will conclude Juliette Nichols’ journey and complete Hugh Howey’s epic trilogy of novels.

We can’t wait for everyone to experience more of the show’s powerful performances led by the incomparable Rebecca Ferguson, as well as the unexpected twists, turns and surprises that we’ve come to expect from this very human story.

The show’s executive producers include Graham Yost, Rebecca Ferguson, Michael Dinner, Nina Jack, Joanna Thapa, Morten Tyldum, Hugh Howey, Fred Golan, Rémi Aubuchon, and AMC Studios. Silo is produced by Apple Studios.

As we head toward the final two seasons, it’s clear that the show has a lot left to reveal, and fans are eagerly waiting to see how Juliette’s story ends.
