Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans’ Christmas Movie ‘Red One’ Is Now the Most-Watched Film Debut on Prime Video

As of December 15, 2024, Red One has earned $92.5 million in the United States and Canada, and $83 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $175.5 million.
In its domestic debut, Red One was expected to make $30–35 million from 4,032 theaters, though estimates ranged between $25 million and $40 million. The movie earned $10.9 million on its opening day, including $3.7 million from previews, and finished its first weekend with $32.1 million, taking the top spot at the box office.
During its second weekend, the movie dropped 59% to $13.3 million, landing in third place behind Wicked and Gladiator II.
While its box office performance was mixed, Red One found success on Amazon Prime Video, where it became the most-watched film debut ever for Amazon MGM Studios. According to Amazon, the movie drew in 50 million viewers worldwide over its opening weekend on Prime Video (a four-day period).
Red One is still playing in theaters with over 3,000 screens in North America and 3,300 internationally. The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans, Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Bonnie Hunt, Kristofer Hivju, Nick Kroll, Wesley Kimmel, and J.K. Simmons.
Directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Chris Morgan, the PG-13 holiday action-comedy follows Callum Drift (Dwayne Johnson), the head of North Pole security, who teams up with mischievous hacker Jack O’Malley (Chris Evans) to rescue Santa Claus after he’s kidnapped right before Christmas.
