James Gunn’s DCU is slowly shaping up to be a very interesting fictional universe and while we still don’t know much, we have an idea of where Gunn is taking it. Some roles have been cast, but there is still a large number of roles – even major ones – that have not been cast and actors are offering themselves to Gunn for such roles.

One of the major roles that still hasn’t been cast is that of Dick Grayson, although we still don’t know whether he is going to be Robin or Nightwing in the mainstream DCU, which depends on which timeline Gunn wants to create.

But, if it turns out that Gunn will be going for Nightwing and not Robin, there is one actor who already has experience with playing Nightwing and who would like to reprise his role in Gunn’s live-action projects. Who is it? Keep reading to find out!

Remember the Gotham Knights video game? The ambitious project was supposed to be a sequel to the Arkham games, but it turned out that it wasn’t, although it did have a lot of similar narrative elements.

Yeah, the game did not flop, but it did not do as well as everyone hoped, and while it had its moments, it is more or less a game that most fans have forgotten. Sadly.

Nightwing was one of the four main characters in the video game, and he was voiced by actor Christopher Sean, who provided us with a great performance for the game; the voice interpretations were, in fact, one of the better aspects of that game.

While Sean’s experience with Nightwing is virtual, the actor has stated that he would definitely like to go back to the role and he is now openly calling Gunn to cast him as Nightwing in the DCU:

No, yeah, I’ve done two. I played Nightwing in DC’s Gotham Knights, which is really awesome because I’m the first Asian American to portray Nightwing. And I also played Toyman in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – engineer, savant, genius. Genius boy.

And it’s nice because I think he’s the only Japanese American mixed character, which is really nice. But jumping into live action? I would absolutely love that. I’ve trained my whole life in martial arts, again, many of these people… they were my role models growing up. The way I trained, the martial arts I learned, so that I could portray them live action. So if there’s ever that opportunity, I’m ready… James Gunn, pull the trigger.

To be frank, this doesn’t seem like a likely outcome, even if Gunn decides to use Nightwing from the start, but who knows – we might be surprised in the end!
