The release of the Echo show introduced new things to the MCU. It was the first show under the Marvel Spotlight banner and the first character-driven, R-rated series. Even though the main character wasn’t very well-known, the show did well. The biggest change in Echo was that it officially added Netflix’s The Defenders Saga to the MCU timeline.
There are some issues with this, but they will likely be fixed in the future, especially with Daredevil: Born Again coming soon, which marks the official return of the Defenders Saga.
Since Daredevil is making a big comeback, fans have been wondering about other characters, like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Both actors have said they are ready to return and continue their stories.
In his latest interview with THR, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s Head of Television and Streaming, talked about how adding the former Netflix shows to the MCU is a big opportunity, officially making those characters part of the MCU timeline.
He hinted that characters like Colleen Wing could return if the situation is right and promised exciting surprises for fans of the Netflix shows, especially with Daredevil: Born Again coming soon.
It’s all one shared universe, so you never know where characters are going to pop up next. It’s a huge opportunity to have officially folded those stories into our canon. Whether or not they were always part of the canon, it’s now official, and we can play with those toys in our toy box. There are surprises around the band that I won’t get into, but for fans of the Netflix shows, we’ve got a very exciting show on the horizon in Daredevil: Born Again.

This is great news for fans of street-level stories. A few weeks ago, Winderbaum mentioned he’d love to see Jessica Jones continue her story in the MCU. There are also rumors that the studio plans to bring back shows like Iron Fist or even create a new show like Heroes for Hire, now that they have access to all the characters.
