Marvel Zombies is definitely one of the most exciting shows coming up. The series has been in development for a while, but we’ve recently been hearing more news about it, especially as Marvel Studios is focusing more on animation.
During this year’s Marvel Animation D23 panel, they shared some footage from the new show that really got people excited.
The showrunners, Andrews and Winderbaum, shared a scene where the last survivors in San Francisco, including Shang-Chi and Katy, are rescued by agents from the Ten Rings. Wenwu steps in to help, but when Shang-Chi gets bitten by a zombie, Wenwu sacrifices himself to prevent the infection from spreading.
Five years later, Shang-Chi leads a group through a desert, similar to “The Road Warrior.” Their journey is interrupted by Skrulls trying to steal their cattle, but Shang-Chi and his team, possibly including Jimmy Woo, are ready to fight back.
This suggests that Shang-Chi will be one of the main characters in the show, along with Kamala Khan, who was mentioned earlier.
Recent news indicates that the show is set to release on Disney+ in October 2025. New artwork has also been revealed, showing some previously unseen team members preparing to battle zombies.
The series will showcase alternate versions of several MCU characters, including Yelena Belova, Katy, Kate Bishop, Red Guardian, Jimmy Woo, Death Dealer, Shang-Chi, and Wenwu.
It will also feature zombie versions of characters like Hawkeye, Steve Rogers, Abomination, Ava Starr, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Ikaris, and Okoye.
The show has been confirmed to be rated TV-MA, with Brad Winderbaum hinting that it will be particularly brutal. It will consist of four episodes and is being described as an “event” rather than a mini-series.
