It looks like with the WandaVision spinoff, Agatha All Along, the MCU is still teasing Mephisto without actually showing him. When WandaVision first came out, fans thought Mephisto would be the main villain, but that didn’t happen. Instead, the real villain turned out to be Agatha Harkness, whose spinoff show we’re discussing today.

In episode 3 of Agatha All Along, Jennifer Kale, who is related to two Ghost Riders in the comics, mentioned Mephisto’s name. As soon as she said it, fans began to wonder if Mephisto would appear at the end of the Witches Road.

The real villain in Agatha All Along could be seen as Agatha, Death, the Witches Road, or even Billy. However, if you’re wondering if Mephisto appeared, he did not. There’s a good reason for that.

The show already had a lot of new characters and ideas. We have Wiccan, another cosmic being, and Jennifer Kale, who is likely to have a bigger role in the Midnight Sons.

The futures of both Billy and Agatha were hinted at, opening up a new supernatural side of the MCU. Mephisto wouldn’t have added much to Agatha All Along; he wasn’t needed to create suspense or mystery.

Another reason Mephisto didn’t show up is that he is rumored to have a smaller role in the upcoming Ironheart show. This show will feature Riri Williams using technology to fight against ancient magic. The Hood, a villain closely connected to Mephisto, has also been confirmed to appear in the series.

Mephisto will reportedly be played by Sacha Baron Cohen. Interestingly, Ironheart was originally meant to come out before Agatha All Along, but plans changed because of the SAG-AFTRA strike. This means Mephisto might have been part of Agatha All Along, but since he’s now set to appear in Ironheart, those plans were likely changed.

When Agatha All Along first started airing, Jac Schaeffer explained what Mephisto’s role in the show would be:

With these shows, so often there is something that is at once a joke and a wink and a nod, and actually has something legitimate underneath it. As we all know, Mephisto is a character who’s very wrapped into Agatha’s storyline. I mean, people have to watch, but we’re always playing with the audience in that way.

Mephisto was hinted at to keep us interested, but in the end, we found out that Agatha All Along didn’t need him. The show was strong enough on its own without needing any extra villains.
