Ironheart is one of the shows Marvel Studios announced for release in 2025. The show combines magic and technology, with all kinds of conflicts coming to life.
Dominique Thorne stars as Riri Williams/Ironheart, a smart MIT student who builds a suit that can compete with Iron Man’s. Anthony Ramos plays Parker Robbins/The Hood, a complicated friend of Riri who uses dark magic.
The cast also features Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy, Lyric Ross as Riri’s best friend Natalie, and Anji White as Riri’s mom. Other well-known actors, including Shea Couleé, Jim Rash (returning as the Dean of MIT), and Sacha Baron Cohen, will also appear, with Cohen rumored to play Mephisto.
Since Riri first appeared in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it became clear that the MCU has found a new character to take on Iron Man’s role. She won’t replace him exactly, but she’ll provide some exciting suit action.
The latest teaser trailer for her show showed off some of this action and gave us a first look at Riri’s suit. It’s definitely different from what we’ve seen in the MCU for a while. The suit is homemade, and bulky, and reminds us of how Tony Stark started out.
The first Iron Man suits, especially the Mark I, and the early versions were big and looked like they were made by hand. They felt like real metal armor, showing Tony Stark’s beginnings as a character who built his suits from scraps in a cave.
In contrast, the newer suits, especially those using nanotechnology, look sleeker and more polished. They are often smoother and more streamlined, making them seem like advanced, high-tech armor rather than something built by hand.
It looks like we will get to experience those parts of the MCU again. The original suits had a special design that showed the hard work and effort behind them. Building and using these suits was an important part of Tony Stark’s growth, showing how smart and determined he was.
Riri will also need to show determination and face challenges, making her character feel more real and relatable. While she might not go through the same struggles as Tony (which is a good thing), we will still see the strong emotions she feels when she is creating something.
Tony’s later suits were really cool, but they didn’t feel as connected to him emotionally. Ironheart is set to bring back some of that magic in a big way—especially with a bulky, homemade suit!
