Agatha All Along introduced several key characters tied to the magical and supernatural side of the MCU, especially those connected to the Scarlet Witch. One of the most important is Billy Maximoff, also known as Wiccan.
In Marvel Comics, Wiccan is one of the most well-known magic users and has been part of many big storylines. Fans of the comics will know that Wiccan is gay and is in a relationship with Teddy Altman, also known as Hulkling.
In the show, Billy has a boyfriend named Eddie, but he only appears briefly. When fans heard that Billy had a boyfriend in the MCU, many thought it would be Hulkling. However, Agatha All Along showrunner Jac Schaeffer shared a different story.
Schaeffer explained that there were initial plans to introduce Teddy Altman, also known as Hulkling, as Billy’s boyfriend.
At first, Eddie was even going to be named Teddy as a nod to the comics. But Marvel chose not to include Hulkling’s Kree/Skrull identity in this series. Instead, they went with the name Eddie as a tribute to someone special to the writers’ team. Schaeffer noted this change wasn’t intended to mislead fans but was a way to honor someone important to them.
“There were early conversations [about Hulkling].[Eddie] was originally called Teddy because we were looking at the artwork and thinking about that. That was a Marvel decision to not have him be Hulkling for the purposes of our show.”
“Within our show, he is not Hulkling but we pivoted to Eddie because he is named after a person that is important to the writers’ room. It wasn’t sort of teasing the fans, it was one of those lovely tributes to somebody who matters to us.”

In the comics, Hulkling plays a big role in Wiccan’s story, so it would make sense to bring him into the MCU at some point. This could be especially fitting if the MCU dives back into Kree storylines, which seems possible with the Nova project in development.
Since Schaeffer hinted at a future for Billy in the MCU, there should be plenty of chances for him and Hulkling to meet. Eddie may have just been a part of Billy’s journey for now, and there’s always the option to reveal him as the hybrid down the line.
