Here Are 17 Sci-Fi Movies & TV Shows Coming Out in January 2025

Science fiction (Sci-fi) is one of the most popular literary and cinematic genres of all time. Such topics have been intriguing artists for a long time, and it is not strange that the film industry has been delivering some amazing sci-fi works, some of which have become proper classics.

1. Aladdin 3477- I: The Jinn of Wisdom – January 3, 2025 (VOD)

We have already written about this interesting sci-fi movie, and it is going to be released as a VOD title on January 3, 2025. It will bring a fresh and new adaptation of Aladdin’s story, which will combine elements from Dune and Star Wars into a unique story that will certainly attract a lot of attention.

2. Roswell Delirium – January 10, 2025 (VOD)

This interesting sci-fi horror will be a nostalgia fest, as well as an interesting VOD title. The States are hit with a series of nuclear attacks and it seems that the aliens are the only ones who can fix this situation, although we still have to see how and why.

3. Obscura – January 11, 2025

Obscura is going to be an interesting sci-fi action thriller that will premiere in early January. In the movie, a CIA special ops group will have to team up with a group of bikers to face a strange and dangerous creature of unknown origins.

4. Survive – January 10, 2025 (VOD)

While we have covered this title in our list of horror releases, this title also incorporates elements of science-fiction, so it ended up on this list as well. If you like to blend your sci-fi with your horror, then this “reverse Jaws” story of a family ending up stranded in a world where the water is being drained and then having to face dangerous monsters is right up your alley.

5. Man of the Cosmos – January 15, 2025 (VOD)

Man of the Cosmos is scheduled to come out on January 15, 2025, as a VOD title, but at this moment, information about the movie is scarce and we still don’t have any proper information to share with you, save for the fact that it will be a sci-fi mystery movie.

6. Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- – January 17, 2025

This movie is actually going to be an introduction to the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX anime series that will also premiere in 2025. Like many recent releases, the movie will incorporate the plot of the first episodes of the anime and introduce the viewers to the plot of the series, which will begin soon after.

7. Under the Crystal Sky – January 17, 2025 (VOD)

Another VOD title, Under the Crystal Sky will take us back to the 1800s, as an Indigenous family will have to face their everyday struggles while also encountering a celestial phenomenon that might just end up changing their lives completely. This interesting blend of sci-fi and history will certainly be an interesting addition.

8. Henry Danger: The Movie – January 17, 2025

Henry Danger: The Movie is a title for the younger ones, as it is based on Nickelodeon’s popular Henry Danger franchise. The movie will be released on Paramount+ and will provide us with an interesting feature-length movie based on the popular children’s television series.

9. Aliens Uncovered: Portal Encounters 2 – January 24, 2025 (VOD)

Aliens Uncovered: Portal Encounters 2 probably won’t make it to the Oscars, but fans of sci-fi docustories might find the movie interesting. It follows two locals who are investigating a hill in Arizona that is supposedly a secret hub of cosmic knowledge, so it will certainly be interesting.

10. Star Trek: Section 31 – January 24, 2025

Star Trek: Section 31 is a spin-off television movie that will be released on Paramount+ for everyone to enjoy. Michelle Yeoh is back as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, a beloved character from the franchise, in a movie that will focus on her character and provide us with yet another interesting adventure we are sure to love.

11. Make a Girl – January 31, 2025

This sci-fi anime movie will be released in Japan at the end of the month; and while we don’t have an international release date, we think that this strange story might actually provide us with a lot of intriguing details, which is why we have decided to list it here, so that fans know that they can expect it.

12. Companion – January 31, 2025

Another one from our earlier horror list, Companion is a film we have already written about, and it promises to be a very interesting blend of science fiction and psychological horror, which is why we think that fans will enjoy it and why we think that this is a title worthy of your time.

13. Love Me – January 31, 2025

Love Me premiered in January 2024 at Sundance, and this interesting sci-fi drama starring Steve Yeun and Kristen Stewart will finally receive a limited theatrical release on January 31, 2025. This promises to be a very intriguing story and is one of the bigger titles on this list.

1. Momentary Lily – January 2, 2025

This anime series will be the first title from this list to premiere in January. 3. Severance, Season 2 – January 17, 2025

After a prolonged break, Severance is finally coming back and fans of the series cannot wait. 4. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man – January 29, 2025

This animated series is not necessarily a sci-fi series, but it does incorporate a lot of sci-fi elements, so we decided to include it on our list. The series has been pushed back to a late January 2025 release, and with a promising concept, it is slated to be a major hit next year.
