Netflix is set to launch its latest Thai offering, ‘Tomorrow and I,’ directed by Paween Purijitpanya. This four-part anthology delves into a range of contemporary issues including cloning, prostitution, religion, and global warming.
This move by Netflix to introduce sci-fi themes from Thailand showcases a growing library of diverse content.
The series, which begins streaming on December 4, brings together various storylines under the direction of Purijitpanya, known for his works such as ‘Body,’ ‘Phobia,’ and ‘Ghost Lab.’
In making ‘Tomorrow and I,’ he highlights the complexities involved in creating a believable futuristic world. From cityscapes to costumes and technology, every element was crafted to enhance the realism of the series.
The first episode, ‘Black Sheep,’ promises a gripping tale with Boy-Pakorn Chatborrirak, Ink-Waruntorn Paonil, and Poyd-Treechada Hongsyok.
It revolves around a dramatic attempt to resurrect a deceased astronaut. Following this, ‘Paradistopia’ ventures into a realm where intelligent sex robots satisfy human desires, featuring Violette Wautier and Timethai.
In ‘Buddha Data,’ viewers will find a narrative that challenges the boundaries between ancient beliefs and artificial intelligence, starring Ray Macdonald, Aelm Thavornsiri, and Pongsatorn Jongwilas.
The series concludes with ‘Octopus Girl,’ a story set against the backdrop of a flood-ravaged slum dealing with a pandemic.
The cast includes Tangkwa-Chananticha Chaipa, Minna-Wanichaya Pornpanarittichai, and Pingpong-Thongchai Thongkuntom.
Netflix continues to build its Thai content portfolio, which already includes titles like ‘Terror Tuesday: Extreme’ and ‘Master of the House.’
As ‘Tomorrow and I’ prepares to make its debut, it stands out as a bold exploration of futuristic themes from the perspective of Thai cinema.
