Matt Reeves’ “Batman Epic Crime Saga” continues to grow, with the latest installment now airing. The show focuses on Oz Cobblepot’s rise to power after the death of Carmine Falcone in The Batman: Part I.

At first, fans were uncertain about The Penguin getting its own series, but all doubts were quickly put to rest after the first episode aired.

Fans quickly praised nearly every aspect of The Penguin, from its dark, grounded setting to the standout performances by Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti. Now, it looks like we might be getting another spinoff in a similar style.

According to a well-known industry insider, HBO is reportedly developing a new spinoff based on Barry Keoghan’s Joker, a character briefly seen in The Batman: Part I. While details are scarce and these are still just rumors, Matt Reeves and Lauren LeFranc have recently teased that more spinoffs are in the works.

Keoghan’s character, initially listed as an “Unseen Arkham Prisoner” in The Batman (2022), was later confirmed by Reeves to be the Joker.

A deleted scene featuring Barry Keoghan’s Joker and Robert Pattinson’s Batman was released by Warner Bros. on March 24, 2022, three weeks after the film’s debut, and it was well-received by fans.

Over a year ago, Collider reported that Keoghan would be reprising his role as the Joker in the upcoming sequel, though the studio has yet to confirm it. Recently, Variety asked Keoghan about his involvement in the film; while he didn’t confirm his role, he also didn’t deny it.

Fans are already speculating that Keoghan’s Joker may play a smaller part in the sequel, with a potentially larger role in The Batman III if it happens.

“There we go!” I can’t say much. The camera is looking right at me. We’ll see where that goes. Again, it was an incredible experience … and yeah, I can’t say.

This isn’t the first time the actor has teased his return. Over six months ago, Keoghan gave a similar response to Vanity Fair—neither confirming nor denying the rumors. Given the secrecy surrounding it, it seems likely he will return, possibly in a cameo role.

Keoghan did confirm that it would be exciting to revisit the universe:

I can’t really say anything about that, my man, but it would be exciting, wouldn’t it? To see The Joker come to life again.”
