Fans of Stephen King’s chilling universe in ‘IT’ will be thrilled to know that the horror is far from over. Max, formerly HBO Max, has officially launched a prequel series called ‘Welcome to Derry’ under the directorial vision of Andy Muschietti, alongside Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs.

The upcoming series aims to deepen the lore of Derry, the haunted town that first terrorized audiences in King’s 1986 novel and gained renewed attention with the recent films ‘IT’ and ‘IT: Chapter Two’.

The story will take us back to the 1960s, exploring the eerie origins of Derry’s curse and the emergence of its most infamous resident, Pennywise the Clown.

In a captivating reveal, Max shared a sneak peek of ‘Welcome to Derry’, showcasing chilling first-look images and teaser footage.

The highlight is the confirmation of Bill Skarsgård’s return as the menacing clown, Pennywise.

The trailer, which is part of a larger sizzle reel for Max’s upcoming titles, briefly features the iconic red balloon and hints at the horrors that await.

The cast set to bring this spine-tingling story to life includes Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, and James Remar. Deadline also reports that Madeleine Stowe and Stephen Rider will join the series, adding to the talented ensemble.

‘Welcome to Derry’ is more than just a prequel; it’s a journey into the dark past of a town synonymous with terror.

Although initially slated for a Halloween 2024 release, eager viewers will have to wait until 2025 to experience the full horror.

As we anticipate this deep dive into the world of ‘IT’, it’s clear that the mystery and fear that Pennywise instills are far from over. We’re just getting started, and there’s plenty more to uncover about the secrets that lurk in Derry.
