Marvel Studios has several projects in the works, featuring both well-known and lesser-known comic characters, despite Feige and Brad Winderbaum’s statements that the studio plans to slow down to 2-3 movies and 2-2.5 live-action shows per year.
One confirmed project, Nova, has been in development for years. It was first planned as a series, then changed to a movie, and now it appears to be returning to its original plan as a series.
Over six months ago, the head of Marvel Television confirmed plans for a Nova live-action series. However, he also cautioned that just because something is in early development, it doesn’t mean it will definitely happen, due to new studio rules.
Recently, Winderbaum appeared on the Phase Hero podcast and shared a very positive update. It seems the show has moved past the “early development” stage and is progressing well.
It’s in development, you know, like we talked about at D23, we’re developing more than we make so it is kind of brewing in the pot. But there’s a lot to be excited about. What I’ve seen so far is extremely promising. I’ll say that.
Especially like tonally. The vibe of that show is very unique and very cool.

While the show isn’t fully confirmed yet, it’s clear that it hasn’t been canceled either.
Recent rumors suggest that if the show moves forward, it will likely focus on Sam Alexander’s Nova instead of Richard Rider. The same rumors also mention that production could begin next year.
