Although there have been many great works of science fiction throughout history, many people believe that Star Trek is the greatest sci-fi series ever. Even when there is fierce competition, the Trekkies will always manage to explain why their franchise is, without a doubt, the greatest one of them all.

Whether or not we agree with them, it is undeniable that Star Trek is a cornerstone of contemporary science fiction, and the entire franchise has pioneered the genre in more ways than one. Despite the fact that it is very, the series is still very much alive and continues to produce new works in a variety of mediums.

Among the currently airing works is the Star Trek: Lower Decks adult animated series, whose fifth and final season is currently airing. In it, the series has just introduced us to the franchise’s worst iteration of the famed Deep Space 9 station, and we have decided to share this with you.

As you probably know well, the Deep Space 9 station is a pillar of the franchise. It is one of the best locations where starships can go, and it has been elevated to the rank of a very desired location.

Of course, with the evolution of the franchise, the location has become a cult setting and even people who are not avid fans of Star Trek know what Deep Space 9 is and what it represents.

But, as every positive thing has its polar opposite, so does Deep Space 9 and Star Trek: Lower Decks, has just shown us the polar opposite of Deep Space 9 – the worst space station in the whole galaxy if the screenplay is to be believed.

Star Trek: Lower Decks is a beloved adult animated series whose fifth and final season is currently airing, and this is where we’ve seen the worst station in the universe.

The place in question is Starbase 80, and as you can see from the image above, it is a very poor-looking place and the crew of the USS Cerritos, who is currently investigating the timeline issues, was forced to go there due to a malfunction.

And, as you can believe, they did not want to go there. The place looks horrible and the atmosphere is such that you wouldn’t want to be stationed there, which means that Starbase 80 lived up to its reputation.

But, it wasn’t all that bad. It turned out that the bases’s commander, Kassia Nox, was a very nice and cheerful person, and that she was able to provide the main crew with a proper meal. So yeah, there was a lot of prejudice there, but while the impression did change, the main crew still concluded that they wouldn’t want to be stationed there.
