Sasha Calle, who made her first appearance as Supergirl in the film ‘The Flash’, recently shared her feelings about being replaced in the role.

Despite initially signing a multi-film deal, the transition of leadership at DC Studios to James Gunn and Peter Safran saw a new casting direction, with Milly Alcock now set to don the cape as Kara Zor-El.

Calle expressed her love for the character and the impact she hoped to make. ‘I was so deeply in love with that role,’ she said. ‘It was very heartbreaking for me, and it was very confusing.

The promise of multiple films turned into a single appearance, making her exit from the franchise not just surprising but also painful.

The backdrop of Calle’s short tenure included not just internal studio changes but external pressures as well. ‘The Flash’ faced challenges such as Ezra Miller’s legal issues and a disappointing box office performance, further complicating her debut.

Amid these professional challenges, Calle found personal support through a friendship with Leslie Grace, who faced her own disappointment when Warner Bros. Discovery canceled the ‘Batgirl’ project.

Calle found solace in their bond, describing Grace as a ‘divine light of love and warmth.’ This relationship was a silver lining during a tumultuous period, showing the importance of solidarity in tough times.

Looking forward, Calle remains optimistic about her career and is eager to explore more action-packed roles, whether they involve supernatural elements or not.

She cherishes the opportunity she had to represent a ‘queer Latina girl’ as a superhero, a role she believes had a meaningful impact on many. ‘I did something that mattered,’ she affirmed.

Directed by Andy Muschietti, ‘The Flash’ explores Barry Allen’s attempt to alter his past, only to trap himself in a reality where he must persuade a retired Batman and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian to avert disaster.

The film, featuring a screenplay by Christina Hodson and produced by Barbara Muschietti and Michael Disco, highlights Barry’s race against time to save his known world.
