According to Deadline, Eve Ridley, who recently made waves in the Netflix series ‘The Three-Body Problem’, has landed the role of Ruthye Marye Knoll in the upcoming DC Studios movie, ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’.

This marks a significant step up for the young actress, whose performance in the Netflix series had already caught the industry’s attention.

The movie, which is a direct adaptation of the comic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, will see Ridley’s character, Ruthye, join forces with Supergirl in a galactic quest for vengeance.

The storyline follows Ruthye as she seeks justice for her father’s murder at the hands of the villain Krem, portrayed by Matthias Schoenaerts.

Milly Alcock will star as Supergirl, aka Kara Zor-El, bringing with her the acclaim from her standout role in ‘House of the Dragon’.

Craig Gillespie, known for his work on ‘Cruella’, is set to direct this feature, with a screenplay penned by Ana Nogueira, previously known for ‘The Vampire Diaries’.

This project is gearing up to be a pivotal release in the DCU lineup, promising a fresh take on the Supergirl saga.

In this adaptation, the narrative will explore Supergirl’s journey as she traverses the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday alongside Krypto the Superdog. During her travels, she encounters Ruthye which catapults them into a vengeful mission.

The film’s portrayal of Supergirl aims to highlight her tougher, more seasoned nature, shaped by her traumatic upbringing on a fragment of Krypton, in contrast to Superman’s more nurturing childhood on Earth.

James Gunn, who was involved in the project’s development, emphasized that this film aims to showcase a different side of Supergirl, one hardened by the harsh realities of her early life.

This perspective sets her apart from the traditional, more wholesome image of Supergirl we are accustomed to.

The excitement around ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ is building, as DC Studios continues to expand its universe with new and intriguing storylines. With a slated release date of June 26, 2026, anticipation is already mounting.

Before taking the lead in her solo movie, Alcock’s Supergirl is expected to debut in the DCU with an appearance in ‘Superman’ next summer, setting the stage for her to shine in her own right.

As the cast rounds out with impressive names and a fresh narrative, it’s clear that DC Studios is setting up ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ to be a standout addition to their cinematic universe.
