When the trailer for ‘Red One’ dropped in June, it wasn’t exactly met with applause. Rumors quickly spread about less-than-stellar early screenings, and the decision to end the social media silence on election night raised a few eyebrows.
As it turns out, the first wave of reviews for the Christmas-themed fantasy adventure directed by Jake Kasdan offers a mixed bag.
While some critics, or perhaps more accurately influencers, dismissed the film outright, others praised it, suggesting it might become a new holiday favorite.

The film features Dwayne Johnson as a North Pole security agent who joins forces with a notorious bounty hunter played by Chris Evans. Their mission? To save a very muscular Santa Claus, portrayed by J.K. Simmons, from kidnappers.
The cast doesn’t stop there. It includes notable names such as Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Bonnie Hunt, Kristofer Hivju, Nick Kroll, and Wesley Kimmel.
We can catch ‘Red One’ in theaters starting November 15, with a streaming release on Prime Video scheduled for later.
