Oscar-Winning Director Is a Strong Candidate for the Next Bond Film, Rumors Claim

After Daniel Craig’s exit from the role, the James Bond franchise is on its traditional hiatus, something that always happens when an actor finishes his run. This is a time for the producers to consolidate their lines, to take away what was good in the previous run, and to plan a creative direction for the upcoming films. Because James Bond is coming back.
While we know that the new actor is always the most important thing – Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the frontrunner as of the time of writing, although nothing has been announced officially yet – the director is also important, as he can also make or break a Bond movie.
While we still don’t know much in that field either, a recent rumor reports that a famous Hollywood filmmaker and Oscar winner is the current frontrunner for the directorial seat. Who is it and why him? Keep reading to find out more!
As you can assume, the role of director is extremely important, even for franchised titles such as James Bond. That is why, before we continue, we are going to bring you a list of all the James Bond directors so that you can see the people who were behind the movies:

As you can see, there are some truly big Hollywood names and filmmakers on this list, so you can understand why everyone is actually interested in who is going to take over from Fukunaga for the new series, i.e., who will set the tone for the new films.
We assume that the potential list is large, and if we wanted to, we could probably find numerous rumors about the potential candidates online, but a recent report by The Sun, which is not the most reliable of sources, we know, claims that Oscar-winner Sir Steve McQueen is currently the primary candidate for the role:
Steve is one of the UK’s best filmmakers and has an incredible vision. The word is that the Bond producers wanted to see if Steve would ever consider having a hand in one of the films and they got a positive response. It would be incredible if it came off.

This is what an anonymous source told The Sun. Supposedly. Neither the producers nor McQueen’s representatives commented on these rumors, but we agree that it would be an amazing thing if the Oscar-winning director actually agreed.
This would definitely set the tone for the upcoming films and would continue down the darker and more dramatic path set by Sam Mendes in his movies. Of course, as soon as we have more updates, we are going to reveal them to you, so keep following us!
