The story of George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise is a majestic one, truly, and we know that it has become one of the best, if not the best, sci-fi franchises of all time. And all of this with very humble beginnings, as A New Hope was not originally the major hit it is today.

In light of that, you can imagine how many fans there are and how some of them are attached to the franchise. Especially those who consider themselves collectors, and among them those who have the funds to actually attend auctions and get the more valuable pieces of memorabilia.

While talking about the topic at hand, we are about to report on an upcoming auction that is going to take place next week, and in which a full Stormtrooper costume from the 1977 movie A New Hope is going to be auctioned off and many believe that it could reach an incredible sum next week.

The Stormtroopers are not the most popular characters from the franchise and are, more or less, a form of comic relief, as the fans see them as characters who cannot hit a target even if their lives depended on it. Sure, they have a solid backstory and their role in the franchise is significant, but no one really likes them that much or gives any real importance to them.

But, imagine owning a real Stormtrooper suit? Not the replica you can buy in a costume shop for Halloween, but a real costume used on the set of A New Hope, seen during the famous scene in which Vader attacks Leia’s ship. Would you want that? If you’re a true Star Wars fan, you probably would, regardless of whether you like the Stormtroopers or not. And, well, as you might assume, you might have an opportunity to do so soon.

On November 14, 2024, The PropstoreAuction is holding an auction where several memorabilia from the first movie will be sold. Fans will be able to buy a fourth draft script (£8,000) and a Stormtrooper e-11 Blaster Rifle (£120,000), as well as – as we’ve said – a full Stormtrooper costume from the 1977 movie. Only 30 such costumes were made for the film, and the one sold was worn by Brit stuntman Reg Harding; his name is written on the costume that is being sold.

The price? Well, the helmet and armor each have a guide price of £500,000, so the total amount expected to be paid is £1,000,000, so if you have that much to spend, you are free to do it in seven days time. It is highly possible that the whole suit might sell for even more.
