Fan Theory Provides a Way to Save both ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’ and the ‘Eternals’ Through Knull

The two main MCU movies that are supposed to make things right and usher in a new era for the MCU as a whole are Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, which are slated for release on May 1, 2026, and May 7, 2027, respectively. Everyone is crossing their fingers that the films will be huge hits, as they are predicted to be.

For these two films, the MCU brought back Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo Brothers. Although we already know that Doctor Doom will be the primary antagonist, some recent developments hint at more possibilities in the future, and even more villains.

The ending of Venom: The Last Dance revealed that Knull is going to be a threat in the future. In light of that, we have managed to find an interesting fan theory about Knull’s role in the future and how he might be the one character who actually saves two failed MCU films, and it is very interesting!

The theory we found online for you is actually related to Knull and his potential role in the MCU. We found it on Reddit for you, and it was explained by user PimHazDa, who explained how Knull could come into the MCU and how he could be connected to two earlier MCU failures in the best way possible:

In the comics the necrosword that Gorr uses in Thor 4 was given to him by Knull. Plus that film brings a kind of connection between the celestials and gods. My theory is since knull is an antagonist to the celestrials and in the comics wants them dead and end their ability to maintain the balance of life in the universe that he will appear in either the next or next eternals film over.

With that I’m betting that the Sony venom and spiderman are going to have to team up and join some of the eternals due to the link to the hive mind the symbiotes have. That or that deallomgs with Knull will result in venom to appear in the mcu for a spiderman film outside of the eternals.

As for the theory itself, there is nothing to indicate that it will happen like this. But we still think that it’s a solid theory, and if the MCU decides to pick a similar approach to the one from this theory, it might work wonders for them and it might actually save two major franchises.

The connection between Knull and the Celestials is well-known, and seeing how the Eternals flopped completely, the MCU needs something strong(er) to save them.

Connecting them to Knull might just be the thing that does the trick, as Knull is not only a big asset for Marvel, it is also a character around whom there is a lot of hype now, thanks to what Sony did in the Venom trilogy.

As for Thor, what the MCU did to Gorr is an insult to one of Marvel’s best villains in recent years. The movie was just horrible, but while we could swallow that, we cannot forgive the MCU for wasting Gorr on such a film, as it did absolutely no justice to the villain.

On the other hand, if Knull comes and is connected to the story of the Necrosword, as the theory explains, there is a chance to give Gorr a bigger purpose and to retcon the problems of Thor: Love & Thunder.
