As fans of the series will know, A-1 Pictures’ anime adaptation of the popular South Korean manhwa series Solo Leveling finally aired earlier this year after numerous delays and cancelation scares. And while the series has received more or less positive reactions, fans of the original work were not as overwhelmed as they had hoped.

In light of this problematic first season, Solo Leveling was nevertheless renewed for a second season, which is scheduled for a 2025 release, but before that, as you might probably know already, a movie titled Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- is going to be released in late November this year.

The movie will give us a recap of the first season and tease the first episodes of the second season (which is becoming a tradition in the industry!), and we are happy to confirm that a new trailer has just been released and that you will be able to see the said trailer in the text below!

Korean manhwa are rarely adapted into anime, but it does happen from time to time, and seeing how Solo Leveling is arguably the most successful manhwa that could fit into the shonen genre, its anime adaptation was something the fans wanted to see for years. So, when the adaptation was announced, you can imagine how happy fans were. But then, the problems started.

Namely, the show was initially delayed, and then we had a period of absolute silence, which even raised concerns about the series being canceled, but the series ultimately premiered earlier this year, and the fans got what they wanted.

The series was a hit, and while it had some issues, the fans were more or less satisfied; the hardcore fans of the original manhwa had more problems, but the series was generally well-received.

Building on that, a second season was announced, but before that, we are going to get a special movie, Solo Leveling -ReAwakening-, which is going to be released on November 29 in Japan and on December 6 in the West (it’s going to be a limited release, so it probably won’t be available in every territory, sadly).

Ahead of the premiere, the production has just released a new trailer, highlighting some important moments and new details:

Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- is going to be a recap movie highlighting the most important moments from the first season, but it will also bring us a preview of the first episodes of the upcoming second season, so moviegoers will get the opportunity to recapitulate what they’ve seen and to see something new. Earlier, the movie’s official poster was released:

As for the story – in case you haven’t seen the first season and are wondering whether to go to the theaters or not – here is how Crunchyroll describes the series:

It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates.

In this world of tough customers, the low-ranked hunter Jinwoo Sung is known as “the weakest hunter of all mankind.” One day, Jinwoo gets fatally injured when he runs into high-rank double dungeons hidden within a low-rank dungeon. Just then, a mysterious quest window appears in front of him. On the verge of death, Jinwoo decides to accept the quest and starts leveling up… while the others aren’t.
