The success of Deadpool & Wolverine was enormous. That is a fact. The film crossed the $1 billion mark and is currently the second highest-grossing film of the year, with Inside Out 2 being the only higher-grossing film. Critics weren’t particularly impressed, but fans loved the movie, and that’s what counts most for the franchise’s future.

Because Marvel had access to a vast array of characters and projects, many of which were included in the final product, we are aware that the movie itself had a significant number of Easter Eggs and cameos, something the fans loved. But, a recently released work reveals that the MCU had an even bigger opportunity with the movie.

Namely, the Assembled: The Making of Deadpool & Wolverine documentary revealed a crazy and genius idea for a scene in the movie, which would have completely changed our perception of the MCU, but sadly, the idea never made it into the script and the fans are not happy about it!

Remember how, in the movie, Deadpool goes back in time to apply for membership in the Avengers?

The scene with Happy was, many fans claim, one of the funniest in the whole movie and it demonstrated just how much Deadpool wanted to be part of the time, i.e., how important that membership was for him. Of course, the only way for him to do it was to change history, but as you know, that did not happen, and the rest is… well, the story of Deadpool & Wolverine.

But, the Assembled documentary, which can now be seen on Disney+, reveals that there was a great idea that could have made Deadpool a member of… well, whatever he wanted in the MCU.

So, what was this revolutionary and groundbreaking idea? Well, it is something that looks very Deadpool-y and it actually consists of a series of “deleted scenes” from the MCU that would have revealed that Deadpool was there all along and that he had been part of the MCU from the very beginning.

The scene did not make the final cut, but we agree that this would have been absolutely brilliant.

Such a collage of scenes would have shown the essence of Deadpool as a character and it would have elevated the movie, with its multiversal nature, to a wholly new level, also changing the structure and our perception of the MCU; that is probably why the idea was rejected, as Marvel did not want to make these scenes canon.

But, sadly, as you know, the scene did not make it and after finding out about this, the fans went online to voice their dissatisfaction with the fact:

As you can see, most of the fans agree that this would have been a major moment and that Marvel missed an opportunity there, but maybe they’ll remedy it somehow later.
