Marvel Studios has just shared a lineup of new TV shows for 2024 and 2025, with both animated and live-action series on the way. Fans will see new heroes like Ironheart and Wonder Man, and familiar faces like Daredevil will officially join the MCU.
The big question is how these shows will connect to the major upcoming movies in 2026 and 2027, Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.
This is one of several questions Alex Perez recently answered in his AMA.
Perez explained that Marvel’s upcoming projects are key for setting up the big Avengers movies coming soon. Key films and shows, like Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, Blade, Wonder Man, and Ironheart, will introduce or build up main characters who will play important roles in these Avengers films.
He also mentioned that What If…? Season 3 might add some important multiverse elements and could feature characters like Uatu, Captain Carter, and Kahhori. Most of the other Marvel projects in 2024 will have their own storylines and won’t directly impact the multiverse storyline.
Next year’s Marvel slate has a lot of interesting factors that will build upon the foundation for the next Avengers’ films. The big role some of these projects have is setting up where all the major players for the next Avengers films are going to be. So, for example, Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, Fantastic Four, Blade, Wonder Man & Ironheart have the task of setting up the major players involved in Avengers: Doomsday.
What If…? season 3 I heard will also have a very important setup that’ll come into play later on when it comes to the Avengers films, and there is a chance we may see characters like Uatu, Captain Carter and Kahhori step up. The rest of the slate right now is more isolated and has stories that aren’t all that important to the multiverse narrative as far as I can tell.
2024 saw major cuts to the MCU’s lineup, partly due to The Marvels underperforming at the box office and mainly because of the SAG-AFTRA strike, which delayed many productions.
However, things are expected to change in 2025. While both Feige and Winderbaum have confirmed that fans should expect fewer releases in the coming years, there are still exciting things ahead.
