She’s Finally Here: Goth Mikasa Finally Makes it into the ‘Attack on Titan’ Anime

The Attack on Titan manga officially ended in 2021, and the anime was also finished last year, so we can say that the series is over. While Hajime Isayama did leave space for a continuation, it doesn’t seem likely that a sequel to the globally popular series will appear anytime soon. But, this doesn’t mean that there won’t be any more Attack on Titan content, as fans of the series know!

Namely, on November 8, 2024, Attack on Titan The Movie: The Last Attack was released, thus becoming the series’ final compilation movie, covering the ending of the anime series and the fourth season. While the movie did not bring anything new to the plot, it did feature a new post-credits scene.

No, the post-credits scene did not foreshadow a new series or a continuation, but it finally brought three characters to the screen that the fans had wanted to see for a very long time, and that is what we are going to talk about in this report.

Do you remember the Attack on School Castes alternative-universe short manga that was included at the end of volumes 21–34 of the original Attack on Titan manga? Yes, this alternative universe became very popular because it showed us what the younger characters from the main series would look like in modern times.

This series showed us a very different take on well-known characters, and despite the nature of the series, which was more of a gimmick than anything else, the fans loved it.

Of course, the series was never adapted in anime format, despite the fans demanding to see Nerd Armin and Goth Mikasa, as these alternative versions are popularly known, in the anime.

It finally happened! Yes, the post-credits scene of Attack on Titan The Movie: The Last Attack finally showed us Nerd Armin, Eren, and Goth Mikasa, with the fans being especially pleased because of Goth Mikasa.

The post-credits scene gives the whole series a meta-take, as it turns out that the characters from the main story were actually characters from a movie.

This is revealed in the post-credits scene when Mikasa, Armin, and Eren are in the movie theater, watching the final Attack on Titan movie. This gives the characters a happy ending and also shows just how popular this design was.

Goth Mikasa became a fan favorite immediately, as this redesign fit her perfectly. Seeing her in the anime was something that the fans had wanted to see for a long time, and everyone is overjoyed that it finally happened, so thank you, Isayama, and thank you, MAPPA, for giving us this happy ending!
