Blade, starring Mahershala Ali, has been delayed with no set release date. However, Kevin Feige has assured fans that Blade’s big-screen debut is still in the works. Rumors suggest the movie might begin filming in 2025 in the UK with a smaller budget. It’s expected to be dark, rated R, and is currently getting a new script.
As for Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman, we last saw him in Eternals. Toward the end of the movie, Dane hints at uncovering a family secret, though the film doesn’t fully explore his superhero identity. The post-credits scene strongly suggests his transformation into the Black Knight is still to come.
Recently, industry insider Alex Perez hinted during a Q&A that Blade and Dane Whitman might team up. With Eternals’ mixed reception and the production delays around Blade, teaming them up in a Midnight Sons project could be a smart move. Marvel might even throw characters like Jennifer Kale and Ghost Rider into the mix.
toastef: It’s been three years since we were introduced to Dane Whitman in Eternals. What do you see happening with this character in the future?
Alex Perez: Dane’s goal right now is to try and find a way to save Sersi. But he’s desperate and has no idea what to do. Which is what leads to the post credit scene in Eternals. Where does his story go from there? Last I heard, Dane is meant to team up with Blade on the road to Midnight Sons, and Blade will help him train with the Ebony Sword so he can become the Black Knight. This also ties into what I was talking about earlier of Marvel Studios’ interest in telling stories with characters from across the pond.

Given the mixed response to Eternals and the ongoing issues with Blade’s production, having the two characters team up for a Midnight Sons project seems like a logical move. Marvel might even spice things up by adding characters like Jennifer Kale or Ghost Rider.
