Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Reportedly Central to ‘Secret Wars’ as Catalyst for Multiverse Collapse

The MCU is currently in the middle of the Multiverse Saga, and we’re slowly seeing the Multiverse start to fall apart. This collapse is expected to lead to a reboot and the introduction of many new superheroes to the MCU.

It’s still unclear what exactly caused the collapse, but recent projects, that have focused on the Multiverse, have offered a few possible clues.

Industry insider Alex Perez, known for his reliable track record, has shared an intriguing rumor about Spider-Man. During his November Q&A, Perez hinted that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man could play a major role in Secret Wars.

He pointed out that Peter Parker’s actions in Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he tampered with the Multiverse, had devastating effects. These decisions led to personal losses—his aunt, friends, girlfriend, and chance at a normal life—while also triggering the Multiverse’s collapse.

According to Perez, Spider-Man’s guilt and responsibility for these events will make him a key character in the storyline of Secret Wars.

Probably one of the main leads in the movie. Part of the reason why all of this is happening is because of him. Imagine the weight that Peter had to be carrying, knowing that because of his choices, he lost his aunt, he lost his best friends, he lost his girlfriend, he lost any chance of a normal life, and now, on top of that, the universe and Multiverse get to be destroyed, all because he tampered with the Multiverse to try to get people to forget he is Spider-Man. Lots of things to weight on his mind, even for Spider-Man.

As the saying goes, “the road to hell is paved with good intentions,” and Spider-Man didn’t fully think things through when he asked Doctor Strange to cast that spell.

Perez also mentioned that Spider-Man might show up in Daredevil: Born Again.

Alex Perez: I really wouldn’t know. I know they are trying to get him to appear in a short cameo in Daredevil: Born Again as a tease that Fisk and his Punishers are hunting vigilantes like him down, but I don’t know if it’ll pan out that we’ll physically see him.

Spider-Man currently has a new movie in the works, and while early rumors suggested it would be a street-level story, recent reports say it will now have a multiverse focus, connecting to the events of Doomsday and Secret Wars.
