Deadpool & Wolverine was one of the biggest superhero movies this year, and it was a huge hit with audiences. The movie made over $1 billion at the box office and received great reviews from fans.

A big part of its success comes from the return of popular characters like Snipes’ Blade, Garner’s Elektra, and Evans’ Human Torch, along with new additions like Tatum’s Gambit.

With these famous stars returning to their roles, even one leak from the set could have ruined the movie for everyone. Ryan Reynolds admitted that this worried him a lot, especially considering the big fight scene where nearly all the legacy characters battle in an open arena in the Void.

I was so fucking scared that people would see [Wesley Snipes, Channing Tatum, Jennifer Garner, and Dafne Keen]. Genuinely, it kept me up at night,

Ryan Reynolds explained that instead of using fake scenes or different scripts to stop spoilers, the production team took a simpler approach to prevent aerial photos.

They made sure the filming area was secure and had a plan if drones were seen. If anyone spotted a drone, they would shout a warning, and everyone would quickly hide. Although they never had to use this plan, Reynolds said he was always worried about spoilers leaking.

We managed to lock the area off enough and we had a plan in place if anyone saw a drone – because oftentimes they got images via drone. If anyone saw a drone, we would yell it out and basically everyone runs for cover. We never had to actually deploy that little tactic, but I lived in fear of this coming out.

Director Shawn Levy said that filming in real-world locations, even with the risk of paparazzi and spoilers, made the movie feel more genuine and intense—something that wouldn’t have been achieved on a soundstage.

We took the chances of paparazzi and spoilers because if this were all on a soundstage, I promise you this wouldn’t feel as gritty and this real.

In the end, everything worked out. Set leaks did happen, but they mostly revealed minor characters from the old X-Men movies. These characters were eventually shown in trailers, so they were always meant to be revealed before the movie came out.

Rumors correctly predicted that Snipes’ Blade, Garner’s Elektra, and Evans’ Human Torch would appear in the movie, but those rumors weren’t widely shared, so most fans were surprised.

Dafne Keen denied her role in the movie multiple times, and her appearance was only confirmed a few days before the release when she showed up at the premiere.
